Color Sudoku Training Plan: From Beginner to Master

Want to get better at color sudoku? This step-by-step training plan takes you from beginner to master. Learn what to practice first, when to learn Rainbow and Chromatic Circle techniques, and how to reach expert level.

Suirodoku training journey

Whether you're new to Suirodoku or an experienced Sudoku player, this training plan will help you progress from beginner to master.

The 5 Phases

Phase 1 Easy - Learn the Basics

Goal: Understand how colors work alongside numbers.

  • Complete 5-10 Easy puzzles
  • Focus on rows, columns, and 3×3 regions (classic Sudoku logic)
  • Notice how colors distribute — each row/column/region has all 9 colors
  • Don't worry about advanced techniques yet
Phase 2 Medium - Use Color Logic

Goal: Start using colors as a solving tool.

  • Complete 10-15 Medium puzzles
  • When stuck on numbers, ask "What color can go here?"
  • Learn to eliminate colors the same way you eliminate numbers
  • Read the 81 Unique Pairs article
Phase 3 Hard - Learn Rainbow

Goal: Master the Rainbow technique.

  • Complete 10-15 Hard puzzles
  • Study the Rainbow Technique article
  • Practice tracking a number across all 9 colors
  • Use Rainbow when classic logic gets stuck
Phase 4 Expert - Add Chromatic Circle

Goal: Master the Chromatic Circle technique.

  • Complete 10-15 Expert puzzles
  • Study the Chromatic Circle article
  • Practice tracking a color across all 9 numbers
  • Combine Rainbow and Chromatic Circle with classic techniques
Phase 5 Master - Combine Everything

Goal: Solve the hardest puzzles efficiently.

  • Take on Master puzzles
  • Fluidly switch between number logic, color logic, Rainbow, and Chromatic Circle
  • Minimize hints and errors
  • Challenge yourself on the leaderboards

Pro tip: Don't rush through difficulty levels. Mastering each phase builds the foundation for the next. It's better to be solid at Hard than struggling at Expert.

Estimated Timeline

Everyone progresses differently, but here's a rough estimate:

  • Phase 1 (Easy): 1-2 days
  • Phase 2 (Medium): 3-5 days
  • Phase 3 (Hard): 1-2 weeks
  • Phase 4 (Expert): 2-3 weeks
  • Phase 5 (Master): Ongoing mastery

The total journey from beginner to confident Master player typically takes 1-2 months of regular play.
